FASHION PAVILIONS

STRIPED

The project in Houston, TX is for a commercial pavilion and a show room pavilion designed for Vivienne Westwood. Both are created using contrasting diagrammatic processes, with one designed through the analog transgression of plans of the Gwathmey Residence, and the other designed through the digital translation of a Vivienne Westwood dress. The pavilions explore the ambiguity between 2D and 3D. The analog pavilion is designed axonometrically, applying a two dimensional drawing technique three dimensionally. The flat linear pattern of the project adds to it’s 2D appearance, and originates from the pattern of the diagrammed dress. The  digital pavilion indexes the other by using spherical volumes
that manifest as circles in plan and section.
