BARCELONETA BCN

The project completed with Reuben Posada aims to provide a learning center for both locals and tourists to the Baceloneta district of Barcelona. The complex is divided into three main programs connected by a public bridge: a library and tactile exhibition space, an augmented and virtual reality center, and an outdoor auditorium and cafe. The program is focused on multi sensory and interactive experiences, allowing visitors to more relevantly engage with the context and giving locals a refreshing look at the site.  The fluid massing also aims to promote interaction and relies on organizing lines created by neighboring buildings. The exoskeleton contains galvanized steel pipe with a gradient of modular ceramic tiles and solar panels. The dissolution of tiles at the base, large windows, and its general sloped shape maximize views to the sea and maintain visual continuity across the site.
